WADS

📣AUDITION NOTICE📣 WADS’ Spring show will be the classic, well loved, Noel Coward comedy Hay Fever, and we welcome back Keith Neville as director.

A cross between high farce and a comedy of manners, the play is set in an English country house in the 1920s, and deals with the four eccentric members of the Bliss family and their outlandish behaviour when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend without informing the others. The self-centred behaviour of the hosts finally drives their guests to flee while the Blisses are so engaged in a family row that they do not notice their guests’ furtive departure.

Cast of characters are:

Sorel Bliss - Simon’s sister
Simon Bliss - Sorel’s brother
Clara - Judith’s former dresser and now housekeeper
Judith Bliss - Sorel and Simon’s mother, an actress
David Bliss - Sorel and Simon’s father, a novelist
Richard Greatham - a diplomat, Sorel’s guest
Sandy Tyrell - sporty fan of Judith, invited by her
Myra Arundel - a vamp, invited by Simon
Jackie Coryton - brainless and good hearted flapper, David’s guest

As always, do please let us know which audition date you can attend, and in the case you are keen but unable to attend the auditions then please do contact the director, Keith Neville directly on keith.neville@tiscali.co.uk or by replying to this email.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the auditions and to making this WADS production a great success.

Westerham Amateur Dramatic Society

WADS, celebrated its centenary and installed a plaque commemorating this at our home, Westerham Hall. We continue to put on a broad range of plays and shows – from Chekhov to pantomime; modern drama to Victorian Music Hall; new works to classic favourites. Whether you are interested in appearing on stage, joining in behind the scenes; doing your bit for publicity; helping run the bar or welcoming our audience front of house, we promise you a warm welcome to this friendly society. And if you would like to direct – great! There’s no stuffy hierarchy here.

We also run workshops covering all aspects of performance and theatre production. Our main home is Westerham Hall whose stage we can transform into just about anything or anywhere. And with our state-of-the-art technical facilities, the illusion is complete.

We welcome anyone with enthusiasm, regardless of experience or expertise. Interested? Just e-mail membership@wads.info and we’ll get right back in touch.

As one Member put it: “The great thing about WADS is that they take what they do seriously, but not themselves!”
